Make Vista Remember the Folder View Settings Like XP

Unfortunately Vista does not remember the folder view settings, therefore lot of people complained about this issue, so i thought of making this fix for it.

  1. Copy the reg file to desktop and and merge it to the registry.
  2. Close all windows before merging
  3. Open folder options and apply the view settings to all like you do in XP.

THANK YOU!!!

This was my biggest peeve with Vista, other then that I’m one of the few that actually enjoys Vista, you just need the power to run it.

Vista is better than XP.

The only reason for using XP is that it uses less memory and CPU power and is easier to use.

Vista made me buy 1500$ worth of hardware and software and is a piece of crap. Of course the computer sales people do not tell you that. Bill Gates should burn in hell.

I just spent over an hour looking at discussion boards and was so glad to find your fix to this really irritating and time-wasting problem. It’s working fine. I an using Vista 64.

Thanks for the fix!
I’m running Windows Server 2008 32-bit with Aero enabled on an old PC (AMD 3200+, 1.5 gigs, GeForce 6200TC) and it runs sweet. Actually, it ‘feels’ ever so slightly smoother than XP Home.

Hey, kind of a noob here, how does this work?

I downloaded and ran the .reg included in this thread, but don’t know how to make these changes now. As descriptive as possible would help as I’m not as e-savvy as you guys.

You are the ABSOLUTE best, the folder thing was my only problem with vista. I must have spent a week in total searching for a fix. This is the best! Thank you so very much. Have a gorgeous day.

I’m still happy with XP, except my XP frequently does not retain the folder view settings.

Yes, I do have this option checked in Control Panel\Folder Options\View.

Will this fix work on XP-Pro SP3?
