Fix Firefox 3 Error Message ?plugin does not provide secure updates. The plugin will not be installed?
Sometimes when you install plugins in development like SmoothWheel in Firefox 3 beta x, you get the error message as “plugin does not provide secure updates. The plugin will not be installed”, this is quite annoying as SmoothWheel has full compatibility for firefox 3.x.
Here is a way to get around this problem

How to update add-on compatibility manually for Firefox
Some Firefox add-ons that are hosted at Mozilla are not compatible with the latest version of Firefox. Not because they would not be working or display errors but simply because the author did not update the add-on to be compatibly with the latest version of Firefox. Each Firefox add-on has two variables called min version and max version.
Min version specifies the Firefox version that has to be at least installed to run the add-on while max version specifies the Firefox version that can not be exceeded if you want to run the add-on. As I said it sometimes happens that a project is dead and that the author is not updating his add-on anymore.
Firefox 3 beta 4: Disabling Extension Compatibility Check
Most of the Firefox 3 Beta 3 plugins must be not working now with Firefox 3 Beta 4, they will not work until the Mozilla Admins approve them. So till then you are stuck with a browser with no plugins? Well no, not exactly. If you want your Firefox 3 Beta x plugins to work with Beta 4 follow the below steps.
Before you do that here are 2 Very Important Notes
Note 1: Only use the below method to add compatibility to Firefox 3 Beta x plugins. 95% of the older Firefox 2 plugins will mess up your Firefox 3 or will throw errors which will annoy you the most. So don’t try this with Firefox 2.x plugins.
Windows Vista SP 1 RTM available for MSDN and Technet subscribers
Although SP1 for Windows Vista was finalised more than a week ago, Microsoft is still tentative about its general release. Only large PC vendors, customers with volume licences and registered beta testers were initially given access to the final version. SP1 is only scheduled to appear for manual download at the download center from about mid March. Original plans were that MSDN and Technet subscribers should also wait until then, but this caused major protests. Microsoft has now yielded to the criticism (“We heard you.”) and has made SP1 available for download on MSDN and Technet (access requires valid account).
