SpaceTime Search

Posted by Joel 27 June, 2009 (1) Comment

spacetime

Some time back we posted a review about the best visual search enabled browser called SpaceTime 3D which give your search results in a 3D space. Well the same SpaceTime people have released a web based version of their superb visual search.

The best Part of it is (compared to their browser),

  • You DON’T need a good graphics card.
  • You DON’T need huge RAM capacity
  • You DON’T Need a PC with very high speed.
  • You DON’T need to install another browser.

All is done for you in server side, and the results are given to you in your browser like a normal page. I would advise you to use Firefox 3.x for best results.

The Search engine is powered by Google, and also it supports Google Suggest

Experience the best visual search – Powered by SpaceTime

Search Google in English No Matter Where You Are

Posted by Joel 20 June, 2009 (0) Comment

Google’s country redirection can be a huge nuisance when you are in a hurry and want to search something in English. If you are in any other country than US you might end up in a page where everything looks awkward. A page like this (this is in UAE):

google eng search1

To get rid of this annoyance. Remove the default Google plug-in and add the Google US search plug-in from the MyCroft project page.

If you are using a browser plug-in for search, get the below plug-in or another one you prefer from the MyCroft Search plug-ins page.

Google US Search

If you are searching from Google by going to Google.com, this no longer works because it will redirect to your country’s domain.
To search without redirection use

http://google.com/ncr OR
http://google.com/webhp

How to clear or disable File search history in Windows 7

Posted by blacknoise 19 May, 2009 (8) Comment

If you use Windows 7 RC you have probably noticed that win 7 keeps a list of the recently used search terms in the search area in the upper right hand corner. Now for some reason if you want to remove these items from the history use any of the 3 methods given below.

searchmru-1

First is the easiest.. all you have to do is simply highlight the search term you want to delete and press the delete key.

Second method: download the given file extract the .reg file (windows7-clearsearchmru.reg) and excecute it to delete all MRU search items.

Download: windows7-clearsearchmru.zip

Add a search provider right in your start menu

Posted by Joel 2 September, 2008 (6) Comment

In the vista start menu, when you type a name of a program, there are two options displayed, one ?Search Everywhere? and two ?Search the Internet?. This is a small tweak to add Google or any other of your Internet Search provider to launch when you click ?Search the Internet? button.

dnwsearch2

This method uses the Group Policy editor, but unfortunately Vista HomeBasic and HomePremium do not contain group policy editor, therefore I have included a small registry fix to solve this.

For those of you who never use the start button to search the web, well this is not for you?

Best Visual Search Engines

Posted by Joel 16 April, 2008 (4) Comment

Recently the concept of visual search has become popular with Google investors investing on a multimillion dollar project called SearchME. There are other search engines too, these are meta search engines (they usually submit queries to other engines and get the results and display as one list/map) so today I decided to talk about the best 3 leading Visual search engines. Visual search will be the next big step in search after the invention of Google.

New Enhanced Google Start Page for All

Posted by Joel 10 March, 2008 (17) Comment

We have released new Google start pages for Safari, Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer, the four giants of browsing. A lot of people used to like the Firefox start page because it was more customized for the look of their browser, but people stuck with IE, Opera, and Safari had no choice but to use the default Google page or the manufacturer’s start page which was rubbish and huge (in safari’s case), all those troubles are gone with these pages which you can select according to your browser and has a cool trendy bar with a lot of Google services integrated.

Here are the four pages, Set them as home pages and enjoy.
