CSS Rounded Corners That Really Work in IE and Firefox

Posted by Joel 28 October, 2009 (1) Comment

For any web design rounded cornered rectangles add a touch of professionalism and beauty. Unfortunately most methods using either JavaScript or layered images do not work very well on all browsers as expected by the designer or the user.

Finally there is a nice method which works very well with IE7+ and Firefox 2+ perfectly, this is in fact by using CSS3 where 4 rectangles are layered one above the other to emulate a rounded corner and this method unlike others works perfectly with most browsers, although I haven’t tested it with IE6.

Let’s Get Started.

Now we will be adding four rectangles (or lines whatever you wish to call them) which overlap each other, when combined they give the effect of a rounded corner. Now I will give you a small sample which will explain you what I’m trying to say properly.

Auto Login to Live Mail Using IE While IE is Not The Default Browser

live autologin

Whenever you click the new mail icon of the live messenger, you are sent to the live mail login page in whatever browser is the default in your PC, so if IE is your default browser then no problem, but most people including me prefer Firefox. Well in that case you will have to (unfortunately) manually login to your email account.

But what if you would like to login to your Live mail account using IE (without the manual login hassles, and security issues), while Firefox is still your default browser?

Posted by Joel 24 December, 2008 (4) Comment

ietester-0.2

When you design your website for a large audience, you should probably think of all the browsers which the users might use or at least all the popular browsers in the world. Fix Internet Explorer RunOnce2.aspx Customize Your Settings Problem

Posted by Joel 5 June, 2008 (5) Comment

The runonce page (http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx) is a page which appears automatically when you run the Internet Explorer for the first time or if you Reset Internet Explorer Settings from Tools > Internet Options > Advance Tab. The purpose of Runounce page is to allow you to customize some of the settings such as default search provider, automatic phishing filter, activate ClearType, language selection and joining Customer Experience Improvement Program.

If you don?t complete the runonce customization page, this page will automatically load each time you open Internet Explorer regardless of what you set as the Internet Explorer?s default home page. So the simple way to get rid of runonce page is to complete the form.

However, there are times when you can?t complete the runonce settings page. The page will either appears blank, or just does not load and ended with an ?Error on Page? with a plain blue color page. Sometimes the runonce page loads without problems, but the ?save your settings? button will never work and only gives you ?Element not found? error. So every time you open IE7, this page loads and nothing will happen. Here is how to fix this annoying IE7 runonce customize your settings problem.
