Google Chrome Passes Safari in Market Share

Google Chrome after only two years has passed Apple’s Safari browser for the title of the Internet’s third most popular browser. Net Applications found that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (all versions) accounts for about 62.7 percent of the worldwide browser market, while Mozilla’s Firefox accounts for about 24.6 percent of the worldwide market and now Chrome accounts for about 4.6 worldwide market. Apple iTunes 8.2, QuickTime direct links
Apple has released iTunes 8.2 which includes many accessibility improvements, bug fixes and support for iPhone and iPod touch using firmware version 3. Also QuickTime has some security and compatibility improvements.

Apple iPhone OS 3.0 With 1000 New APIs and Over 100 New Features
Tonight Apple presented the latest reincarnation of their iPhone OS, which brings new and exciting features to the already capable OS. Another significant change is that there will be 1000 new APIs that will give developers new possibilities to control the iPhone. AppStore changes and enhanced Bluetooth capabilities will also see daylight.
There are also over 100 new features directly available to the end customers including cut copy and paste. Here’s a run down of the key ones.
- System-wide Cut, Copy and Paste feature
- Stereo A2DP Bluetooth streaming is on (not available to iPhone 2G)
- System-wide landscape keyboard
- A system-wide search Spotlight is added now including Mail, Calendar, Notes, iPod and web
- There’s now MMS support (not available to iPhone 2G)
- You can forward and delete individual messages
- Notes can now be synced with iTunes
- WiFi auto-login for hotspots
- Bluetooth peer-to-peer connection with file exchange and remote control (over Bonjour only)
- Safari gets password login manager
- Support for YouTube accounts and YouTube subscriptions
- New action button in Photos lets you choose multiple pictures to attach to a mail message
- There are Voice Memos, which can be edited, cropped and shared using email or MMS
- Calendar gets Exchange support and will be able to sync with Google and Yahoo calendar services
- Stocks app will be getting news stories and stock details
- iPod gets shake-to-shuffle function
- Anti-fishing tool in Mobile Safari
- Increased number of supported languages
- Parental Controls are extended to movies, TV shows and App Store content
- Calls Log
- iTunes store account creation
- Proxy support
- Live video and audio streaming
- Tethering is now supported (but available optionally)

Syncing your Windows calendar to your iPod
For some reason, iTunes cannot sync a Windows Calendar calendar to an iPod. Why? I have no idea, but my guess is, Office Outlook is the only PIM which runs on both Windows and OS X. Don’t misunderstand me, Office 2007 is great, and so is the new Outlook, but still, for PIMing, I prefer the simple, integrated Calendar. Install iTunes without QuickTime
When you download iTunes, it has a whole bundle of softwares with it. iTunes is one of the best music management softwares out there with superb album management coupled with album art browsing and some nice trendy features. It will be more useful for people who use ipods and like to sync their ipod with the PC.
Unfortunately most people do not like QuickTime an Apple audio playback and encoding plugin. Instead most use QuickTime Lite or QuickTime Alternative.
So here is a tip to install iTunes without QuickTime.
Apple logo really makes you “think different”
Duke University?s Fuqua School of Business and the University of Waterloo, Canada, recently released the results of a study. They found that even subliminal exposure to the Apple logo made participants behave more creatively.
?Each of us is exposed to thousands of brand images every day, most of which are not related to paid advertising,? said Gavan Fitzsimons, from the University of Waterloo, ?We assume that incidental brand exposures do not affect us, but our work demonstrates that even fleeting glimpses of logos can affect us quite dramatically.
Unlimited Tunes from Apple? Not So Fast
Rumors of a new music service appear to be just that, but with iPod sales slowing and competition growing, now may be the time to pursue such a plan!
