Microsoft Security Essentials Final
Microsoft Security Essentials final was released to the public today. Microsoft Security Essentials is a much more advanced version of Windows live one care. What’s good about this is its detection rate is high, scan performance is very good, uses less resources and it also has a very low false positive rate making it a very good security product.
Before installing make sure to remove any other antivirus or security program that is installed already.
The final comes as a free download and will also include free updates. MSE is compatible with Windows XP 32bit, Vista and Windows 7 (32bit/64bit).
Avast 5.0 Beta released
Avast 5.0 beta was released yesterday. This new version comes with a clean interface instead of the hard to operate media player type GUI it had. At the moment it has several limitations and bugs, so casual users stay away. If you want to just test it out go ahead.

Kaspersky Mobile Security 8
Kaspersky has released its Mobile Security version 8. It has some very powerful features such as call/SMS filtering, parental control,firewall, data encryption and theft protection, where a user can send a SMS to a stolen/lost phone to block access to the phone or find the location of the phone using GPS.

Kaspersky Mobile Security prevents user data from falling into the wrong hands, regardless of whether a Smartphone is lost or stolen.
- SMS-Block: If your Smartphone is lost or stolen, you can prevent your personal data from falling into the wrong hands by blocking the Smartphone remotely. Simply send an SMS with a predefined code word to the lost device. To unblock the Smartphone, a password that only you know needs to be entered.
- SMS-Find: You can locate your phone using SMS Find. Just send an SMS with a password to the lost device and you will receive a link to Google Maps (as soon as a GPS connection is established)* with the exact coordinates. Once you know the whereabouts of your phone, it should be clear if it was stolen or just left somewhere.
- SMS-Clean: If it’s clear that your Smartphone has been stolen and there’s no chance of getting it back, you can send an SMS with a predefined code to delete all the data stored on the device.
- SIM Watch: If someone removes the SIM from your Smartphone, the device is automatically blocked and if a new SIM is inserted, SIM Watch will immediately send you a message with the phone’s new number.

Hi there. Today I intend to sail the waters of security. A very arguable topic. Well, after some years of trying and reading about security products I am persuaded to use proactive defense only. So, are you still using antivirus and antispyware product, feeling completely safe on the internet, especially while reading all those av-comparatives.org and other reviews? In simple words it means they can only recognise a virus, that their research team has been able to identify on the internet so far. Independent testing body AV-Test.org has released the results of a major comparative of suite products, with many vendors’ 2009 editions included in the results. The test covers a range of metrics, including detection rates over various types of malware including adware and spyware, false positive rates, scanning speed, proactive detection, and response times to outbreaks.
In terms of pure detection rates in on-demand scanning, a beta version of GDATA’s AVK 2009 topped the charts for both ‘malware’ (measured against 1,164,662 samples) and ‘ad- and spyware’ (94,291 samples), with Avira’s Premium Security Suite 2008 a close runner-up in the former category and F-Secure 2009 placing second in the latter. Secure Computing’s Webwasher gateway product, based on the Avira engine with some in-house heuristics, came third in both categories.
