Use Vista Ultimate Aero in Vista Basic and XP

Posted on April 6th, 2008, by Joel 9 Comments

Ever thought that you wanted to have Vista Ultimate’s Aero glass effects, and UI properties? but could not afford Vista Ultimate’s price tag? Well I have good news for u. Vystal is a revolutionary approach skinning, not sluggish, complicated and hard to use like others (windows blinds, tgtsoft, etc) its effects and performance are on another level. Its effects are so good that its better than Vista Ultimate’s UI.

The new Vystal 2008 will be out in a few days time and the preview of it is already out

The new version is based on a completely new core which brings much more power and performance. It also brings more clarity to your system with a new skinning engine. The skin editor allows you to customize your system by creating a new skin or to change existing skins. Vystal has also as usual many settings, which lets you further customize it so that it suits to you. But the most important thing is that Vystal is the only freeware that supports blur support for skins in Windows XP (and 2000,Vista).

Some features of the Vystal2008 Beta Preview:

- Improved performance >> no delay!
- Supports Skins!
- Blur support for skins!
- More effects available (“Glass”,”Liquid”,”Ice” and “Smoke”)
- Reflections
- SystemBoost?: Control how other applications are affected by Vystal

Sounds good. WindowBlinds might be better, but is expensive. Another freeware is TrueTransparency, no blur support however. This one (Vystal) sounds good, I’ll give it a try definitely. I’ve heard Vista Basic has a more simple way to get it, using the registry (all Aero data is still there, just deactivated by default on Basic; a registry tweak re-enables it). I remember having an older versiom of Vystal, it messed up y PC :-( hopefully this is better ;-)

ADDED: It’s so slow, no matter how I boost it. Hurts my eyes to use it :( Isn’t 1 gig RAM enough?

is that so? ooh I think its becoz its in beta (or preview), maybe…. why go through all this trouble when you have Vista Ultimate…. (which I use and works superb, after SP1 of course)

I might wait for a newer version, and I’m about to buy a better GPU, too. And sooner or later I will get Vista, too.

    @KsbJa

You mentioned the registry tweak for Vista Basic. Is it explained on a web page somewhere?

    Thanks

    @ Darren

well we have a tutorial for that here itself, check this out.

but pls note that this will not wrk if you have vista sp1 installed. Microsoft completely blocked this in their SP1.

Ah, thank you, a few people have been asking about this, and I was wondering as well.

    Thanks again :)
