Use LastPass in Chrome

Previously we said that the best a password manager can get could be the wonderful and totally free service called LastPass. Well LastPass team have made plug-in for most of the browsers except Chrome, now there is a solution for chrome too, but not exactly a plug-in but a nice bookmarklet. If you are using Lastpass and want to use it on Chrome this article is definitely for you.

Here is how to get the lastpass functionality in Chrome.

In Chrome go to settings and select always show the bookmarks bar.

lastpass1

Go to the Lastpass site and login with your Lastpass master username and password and proceed to the member area.

And in the side panel of your member area, there is a option called bookmarklets, click on that.

lastpass2

when you click this icon, a popup will open and present you three options

lastpass3

Drag the one you like to the chrome bookmarks bar, and that’s it. You have lastpass functionality in Chrome.

For most of you, I advise you to select the 2nd Option (like shown in the screenshot. This option fills the username and password but does not log you in automatically. I personally prefer this option. But If you want to automatically logged in when you click the bookmarklet, then drag and drop the 1st option. Those of you who use lastpass to fill other sensitive information also drag and drop the 3rd option.

Now every time you visit a site which requests your username and password (which is stored in lastpass), simply click the bookmarklet and it will fill it for you.

You should definitely drag in the Fill Forms bookmarklet too if you’ve created a profile. Makes filling in your credit card a snap.
