Fix Flash Video Flickering or Stuttering in Firefox

Posted by Joel 24 August, 2009 (9) Comments

youtubefirefox

YouTube and other flash based videos stutter/flicker in Firefox, and this is a major annoyance (usually Firefox has none) with Firefox. This does not happen with other browsers, so why is Firefox causing this? well Its because of its amazing snapshot system which takes a snapshot of your browsing every 10 seconds, this is very nice but this is the main cause of the flickering effect. So how do you get rid of it? Well there is a simple and easy fix for this issue.

  1. Open Firefox options with about:config (type this in address bar and press enter without quotes).
  2. In the configuration settings in the filter box type: browser.sessionstore.interval
  3. You will find this setting to be with the default value of 10000 (this is in milliseconds which is 10 sec)
  4. Change the value to a higher state anything more than 60000 is good but we recommend that you set it to 120000 which is 2 min or 120 seconds.
  5. Restart Firefox and load a flash video and now the flickering or stuttering has gone.

Fix: Unable to install Daemon tools on Windows 7

Posted by blacknoise 24 August, 2009 (8) Comments

Daemon-Tools-Lite

Daemon tools had issues with its SPTD driver installation in Windows 7 earlier builds. This was fixed up to an extent with their 4.30 Lite update that includes version 1.58 of the SPTD driver.

Currently the problem most people are facing with daemon tools is that after an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 or from Windows 7 to another new build, completely breaks the Daemon tools installation. And what’s worse is that even if you try to re-install it will keep asking to reboot endlessly. Earlier I upgraded a Vista installation to Windows 7 and faced the same problem myself, after trying various methods I finally managed to (re)install Daemon tools properly.

According to the Daemon tools site you can try to use the SPTD driver installer to uninstall DT, but it didn’t work out at all. So here’s what you should do to get Daemon tools working.

Posted by Joel 23 August, 2009 (5) Comments

There are lots of free task managers out there, and lot of us use the built in windows task manager, which by the way is very good, but what if you want something more than good? well Auslogics team is here to answer you that, their new task manager is now my favorite task manager, few reasons to like it.

  • It’s simple, the simplest a task manager can get
  • Very easy to use
  • Has process manager
  • Has application manager
  • Has opened files manager
  • Has security rating which will allow you to see if the running file/process/application is malicious
  • Most of all its FREE (like all the software we review).

Google Chrome OS Screenshots (unconfirmed)

Posted by Joel 22 August, 2009 (6) Comments

chromeosresized.jpg

Recently Mashable.com released some screenshots of Google chrome OS. According to them these are yet to be confirmed anyway here are those screenshots for you to see. But assuming that they are real, well I kind of like them, they are following the same concept of the Chrome Browser and keeping everything simple yet elegant. But what I’m sure is that it will take them quite a bit of time (may I be bold enough to say years) to reach the functionality and UI which will allow them to take Windows 7. Anyways have a look at them and decide for yourself. In my opinion they look pretty original.

Baywords Reopens

Posted by Joel 20 August, 2009 (2) Comments

baywords

Baywords is another wonderful work from the Pirate bay guys, and it was one of my favorite services on the web. But unfortunately it was closed down for around an year (or maybe less) since they hit some problems and their servers were unable to handle the massive load.

Baywords is a revolutionary uncensored blogging platform. It is designed so that you can blog about issues without the worries if being shut down by the blogging service provider due to legal limitations. We have already written a detail intro about Baywords .

All I want to say is that I’m so happy to see Baywords resurrected and I hope it continues to play a major role in censorship-free blogging and also be an inspiration to other blogging providers to do the same.
