Maxthon is the legendary browser that kept some of the people on the IE engine, they brought the tab concept to IE and also some cool features like popup blocking and ad blocking plug-in were also innovated by them for the IE engine, most people liked Maxthon for its nice looking cartoonish UI the (old 2.x versions). The new one means business it looks more like FF 4.0 mockups and chrome put together. In my point of view its just fantastic.

taskbarpreview

In Windows 7 all the opened tabs of a browser is all grouped in the taskbar as one group and when you hover over it a peak of the tab contents are shown, this is called the taskbar preview, for most of us it may be useful but for some it may be annoying mostly because of privacy reasons. So here is how to disable this feature in the mainstream browsers

  • Firefox
  • IE
  • Opera

Unfortunately Google Chrome and Apple Safari does not have a feature to disable this, most probably they will add it up in later builds.

Silverlight 4 Developer Edition Released

Microsoft has released the new version of the awesome web media enhancement Silverlight, in this new version there are a lot of new features for developers as well as end users are added, but the problem with this version is that its a developer only version and no Go-Live licensing is available yet. That’s Microsoft’s way of saying that its not yet ready for public deployment and use in a live environment. Anyways the new version has some pretty awesome features and although i do not know how all these new stuff will translate in to live environment but I’m pretty sure that these enhancements should deliver some awesome effects.

Read the full list of features in the Silverlight official website

Download Silverlight 4 Tools for Developers

Please Note that you will need .Net framework 4 RC and Visual studio 2010 (or Visual Web Developer 2010) as perquisites to install Silverlight 4 and to author the websites you will need Expression Blend 4 Beta

No More Updates For Firefox 3.0.x

Posted on March 19th, 2010, by Joel Comments Off

firefox

Mozilla has recently announced that they will be closing all maintenance updates for Firefox build 3.0.x and all who use it will be asked to upgrade to 3.5.x or 3.6.x. so the current update of 3.0.19 will be he last update ever made for Firefox 3.0.x builds therefore its recommended that you stay with the recent updates and switch your FF to 3.5.x or preferably 3.6.x.
You do not need to change to the above versions now, eventually they will give you an auto update option. But if you like a new clean install of the new version, go get it.

Ad Destroy 6.0: For Yahoo Messenger

Posted on February 4th, 2010, by blacknoise 1 Comment

As you probably know after Dedndave stopped releasing patches for new yahoo builds (Yahoo Messenger 10) there wasn’t an alternative to patch yahoo messenger. This is where AD Destroy comes in developed by Dermot and  currently in version 6 its one of the best or rather the only hassle free patching tool for Yahoo Messenger 10 builds(I haven’t tested it on lower builds but there should be no difference), but it doesn’t stop there as there is the older versions for people who use Yahoo Messenger 9 or below.

image

AD Destroy 6.0 comes in both 32bit and 64bit and will work only with the official Y-Messenger builds.

Supported versions:

10.0.0.525
10.0.0.542
10.0.0.1102
