Hotmail, Microsoft’s web mail service, has improved a lot in the past two years. Hotmail is now a modern web application that no longer traps user’s data and focuses on important things like speed, usability, fighting spam and integrating with other communication services.
The latest Hotmail update, that will be released as part of Windows Live Wave 4, tries to show that Microsoft finally managed to develop a better email service than Gmail and, in many ways succeeds.
Hotmail improved its spam detection algorithms and it’s now able to tweak some parameters based on your actions. Hotmail can now flag messages as spam even after you’ve received them.
Another interesting improvement is that Hotmail categorizes messages, so you can quickly find the messages from your contacts, messages from mailing lists or notifications from social networks.

It has been going around that Skype 5 beta was going to available soon. Now it is. The main new feature that people are talking about is the ability to do group video calling. In the previous version if you wanted to do a group call all video was disabled. Now in the beta you can make a 5-way video call (that is you and four other people). On thing worthy of note is that all the participants must have Skype 5 beta installed for this feature to work.

Logging into your computer is just one of those time consuming things that we do each day without even thinking about it. Microsoft has made many changes to their operating systems over the years but they really have not made any real changes to their login screen.
Now you have another options other then selecting your username and typing in your password. You can use Blink!
Blink! is a free application comptable with 32 bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 by Luxand which allows you to use your webcam to login to your computer. In order to use Blink! you have to be running one of two operating systems mentioned above and have a webcam that is compatible with your computer. Blink! starts running after the computer starts up but before it has logged on to any account. All you have to do is look into your webcam and Blink! will log you into your account, it that simple.

Ever since Microsoft brought Windows Mail in Vista as a replacement for Outlook Express I liked it, but unfortunately when I switched to Windows 7, Windows Mail was gone I was both intrigued and annoyed as to why. Well Microsoft purposely ditched Windows Mail to promote Windows Live Mail, first of all I hate Windows Live Mail client, its slow and takes up lot of memory and also I hate the idea of having separate Inbox, Sent and other folder for every account. I hated Mozilla Thunderbird too as the UI and mail configuration is pretty unfriendly and confusing.
So here is a neat trick on how to use Windows Mail on Windows 7.
Before we get started, there are some registry entry files and a DLL file from Vista we need to copy into Windows 7, I have compiled the list of files and given to you in a easy to download folder. If you have a X86 (32 bit) OS then you can skip the file “dotnetwizard_msoe_64.zip”, if you have a X64 (64 bit) OS then you can skip the file “dotnetwizard_msoe_32.zip”.
Please Note: This tutorial is for those who do not wish to use Windows Live Mail, but if you are perfectly happy with it, this is not for you. If you have WLM installed you better uninstall it as it MAY (in some cases) cause conflicts with Windows Mail in Windows 7.
