Posted on July 24th, 2010, by Meena Bassem 3 Comments

I have A-Squared free scanner.Once, it detected a .txt file as a threat.i was kinda surprised and though that A-squared is a fool . So , i searched Google for that, and it looks like it wasn’t a fool
and I’ve also discovered that trick to check if your anti-virus is working or not
1 – start notepad > start > type notepad
2 – copy and paste the following text in Bold in the notepad

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
3 – save as blablabla.txt.

4 – If your anti-virus detected it, then It’s working fine, if not, FIND A BETTER ONE.

5 – i tested that trick, it looks like both Eset and Microsoft Security Essential are fast and good ones.

6 – Enjoy

3 – go to that directory from the browse box

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\[Version]\resources (Vista, Windows 7)
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\[Version] \resources (Windows XP)

4 – Click on one of the three folders: gmail_app, calendar_app, docs_app

and repeat the previous step to add the three apps

Translate Text within Images

Posted on July 10th, 2010, by Jaddis 1 Comment

There are plenty of utilities both on the web and offline that will translate text for you.  Still there are times when you have an image that has some text in it that you wish you could translate.  You could type it manually into a translator but if there is much text that can get very tedious fast!

A developer Shoban Kumar decided to write a little program that would solve this problem.  His creation; a little tool called Translate !t  Translate !t uses Tessnet for character recognition of the text within an image and then uses the Bing translator for translating that text.  The translated text is then dumped into a text document for you.  At this time Translate !t supports English, German, French, and Spanish.
