Best Facebook Greasemonkey Scripts

Posted on April 20th, 2008, by Joel 7 Comments

Recently (3-4 months ago) I started using the biggest social networking site on the world Facebook. I joined there because most of my friends and college class mates were there. After joining and being active for some time and after a while, when your friends list grows for more than 100 or so you get bombarded with invitations of useless applications, quizzes, games and other stuff. Although I like some Facebook apps such as birthday notifier, most of them (90-95%) are useless.

So here are some scripts known as Greasemonkey scripts which will work with Firefox 2 and Firefox 3, and make your Facebook experience much nicer than before and also will save you loads of time.

To use these scripts you need to have

  1. Firefox 2 or Firefox 3 as your Browser.
  2. Greasemonkey extension installed in your Firefox.

Important!

These scripts act in your computer and not in your Facebook profile, therefore they will never mess up your profile (they really cant :D ), these are simple JavaScripts which run client-side in your PCs. There is no server or database interaction whatsoever. If you don’t like a script, simply uninstall it in Greasemonkey script manager (you can open the script manager by right-clicking the monkey icon in your Firefox status bar) and reload the page. Simple as that.

Here is the list of Most Useful Scripts for Facebook I could get my hands on, but If you are using any Greasemonkey scripts which enhance Facebook, please share with us through comments and feedback.

My Favourites

These are scripts I use when I’m logging into Facebook. I simply love these because they save lot of my time, which otherwise I would have to waste in going through junk and useless app invitations.

Facebook Toggle All Modules

Double-click in the Facebook profile page to collapse all modules in the page, double-click again to expand all the modules.

It is not uncommon that a profile page contains 10′s of installed applications and the profile page is cluttered with a whole lot of boxes. If you are looking for a particular module in the page, it’s easier if all modules are collapsed and then you selectively expand the module of your choice.

Facebook custom app hider

There are lots of variations of this script around: this is the only one to allow YOU to effortlessly decide which applications you want to appear!

This script will add a cross to each application on a user page; just click it, and you’ll never be bothered by that app again – in user profiles, or mini-feeds!

A non-intrusive section at the bottom of each page lists the applications you’ve blocked, and allows you to restore them should you change your mind.

Block ALL Facebook Application

BLOCK All Facebook application invitations with just one click.

Get Rid of New App Icons

Get rid of those ugly app icons on profiles.

Others

Facebook Auto-Colorizer

Adds an awesome color scheme to facebook based on your photo.

Facebook – Advertisment hider

Removes the ad to the left on all Facebook-pages

Facebook Image Download Helper

Allows you to use a download manager such as DownThemAll! on Facebook image gallery pages.

When using DTA, download the links with only “Images” checked.

Sudoku Facebook Hack

Instantly solves any game in the Web Sudoku Facebook App

Facebook Simple Uploads

Always use the simple upload page for adding Facebook Photos

This script is especially useful if you have the dragdropupload Firefox extension.

Facebook – View All Photos

Places link to view all photos of a user

Facebook Wall Writers

Changes the picture used for wall posts in your news feed to be the person writing, not the person whose wall is being written on.

Note: the url to be used for profile images are cached so if the person changes their profile image you may still see the only one. It will be recached when that person writes on someone elses wall (and it appears in your news feed). Alternative you can do it manually by simply viewing that person’s profile page.

Remove All Facebook Ads

Removes banner ads as well as “sponsored” news feed and sidebar items from Facebook.

FB Profile Pic

Shows bigger profile pics on Facebook when you put the mouse over the small pics.

FB Album

Makes it easier to browse albums on facebook.

    @simon:

the only way to make a script like that is if there is a bug/exploit in facebook or hold’em code, which basically is lack of security and lets you get priviliges you are not suppose to have; which mean this is illegal, and you may get jail for doing it.
