Syncing your Windows calendar to your iPod
For some reason, iTunes cannot sync a Windows Calendar calendar to an iPod. Why? I have no idea, but my guess is, Office Outlook is the only PIM which runs on both Windows and OS X. Don’t misunderstand me, Office 2007 is great, and so is the new Outlook, but still, for PIMing, I prefer the simple, integrated Calendar. After unsuccessful googling, I gave up on it and tried to find a way myself, and came up with this simple method. Read the rest of this entry

New Ultimate Extras – finally!
Yes, the day has come. Three new Ultimate Extras are finally available through Windows Update, for all Vista Ultimate users. The extras are Microsoft Tinker (a new game), Microsoft Tinker sound scheme, and DreamScene Content Pack #4.
Here’s an excerpt of an official description of Microsoft Tinker:
The objective of the game is to complete levels by navigating the robot around the obstacles to reach the end tile.
The game levels are organized into sets. Each set has twenty levels. The first level in each set is unlocked. To unlock the next level in a set, you must first complete the previous level. To obtain better results and earn achievement stars, you can return to levels previously completed.
The game area consists of a square playing board. Move the robot to the red-and-white end tile. The board contains a variety of objects including moveable blocks, switches, transporters, cog wheels, and other devices.
With the robot you can:
? Move certain objects around.
? Use switches to turn certain devices on and off.
? Collect cog wheels.
? Destroy certain objects.
The robot can be trapped or destroyed if incorrect choices are made.
The in-game sounds are available also as a sound scheme for Windows. A must-have for fans of the new game.
Update: Screenshots are finally here. Sorry for the delay.
Test of the Day – Disk Cleaners
There are lots, lots of Windows optimizers on the market – disk cleaners, disk defragmenters, registry cleaners, registry defragmenters, setting optimizers, etc. Today I’m making a test of six, (supposedly) completely different, disk cleaners. They are (random order):
Disk Cleanup
CCleaner 2.1
TuneUp Utilities 2008
Disk Cleaner 1.5.7
Wise Disk Cleaner 3.6.1 Free
Windows & Internet Cleaner Pro 5.92
The criteria: total filesize of all detected junk files on the test PC.
The test: all the cleaners were ran, one after another, in scan mode (excluding Windows & Internet Cleaner Pro 5.92, which was ran last, because it has no scan mode and deletes files immediately), letting them show us their added free space offer.
OK, so let’s start!
Windows 98’s 10th Anniversary and Vista
Yesterday, June 25, Windows 98 had its 10th anniversary. I decided to take a little view at Windows then and now. Let’s just say as a tribute to the 10th anniversary of Windows 98. First, look how the Windows desktop has evolved over 10 years:
First, the system requirements (top 98, bottom Vista):
- 66 MHz or higher processor – 800 MHz
or higher processor (1 GHz recommended) - 16MB of RAM (24MB recommended) – 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
- At least 500 MB of space available on HDD – At least 15 GB of space available on HDD
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive – DVD-ROM drive
Comparison of BSODs (98 first, Vista second):
